"Your the internets best kept secret. Keep it up!" So goes the heartfelt but grammatically incorrect lead comment on YouTube for a video of Emma Louise performing her song 'Paper Walls'
It's not like we've been ignoring Emma Louise but she's been dominating our own independent charts for months now and we're yet to give her credit where it's due. It's about time we did.
At 19 years of age Emma hasn't released an album yet but (as seems to be the fashion at the moment... see The Jezabels and Art Vs. Science) she's released a wildly successful EP on the back of a wildly successful song, 'Jungle'. The EP 'Full Hearts and Empty Rooms' has been at the top of our charts for 10 weeks now and has a lot of people we speak to rubbing our hands in anticipation of how great an album might be.
If you're keen on delving further into her music then a visit to YouTube is a must... you'll find more than 34 videos of originals, sung earnestly and beautifully to the camera, each with a one line explanation... "An original song that is written about liking only the idea of someone" or the amazing "A song about missing someone. Recorded it just now right before cyclone Yasi. I'm in Cairns at my parents house... it shoudl be here soooon! i should be fine though"
She's using a 21st century medium to stunningly convey an artform hundreds of years old. The best kept secret on the internet is out.
