There's this great tour about to start called "Storm In A Teacup". Featuring Tinpan Orange, Jen Cloher, Harry James Angus, Jordie Lane, Liz Martin and Husky
Storm In A Teacup features a rare blend of exquisitely talented independent artists... These sorts of gigs get us really excited. None of the artists are household names in their own right (yet!), they aren't currently receiving huge support from the national broadcaster and are certainly a long way from commercial radio airwaves but they're all building a loyal following across the country... they're all proof of the rule regarding cream rising. I expect the gig'll be a total killer.
The tour will give many the chance to meet Liz Martin. She's just released a rather brilliant and critically acclaimed new album through Vitamin Records called Dance a Little, Live A Little. She's got a hell of a back catalogue, a style unto her own but we reckon she's criminally underrated. She's eclectic, engaging and entertaining. We asked her to write a lil' about the upcoming tour...
The songs on this album are beyond me. Something outside of me. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and they fell upon me. Each time I play them, they surprise me. The ideas inside them, the love, the care. I'm as surprised and moved by them as much as the next person.
So here they come now, to play with the Storm Troupers. I'm looking forward to that... a beautiful bunch of musicians... beautiful songs... new interpretations. Gonna be a unique tour for sure.
We're still talking about who's playing what with whom... a delicate little dance.

I wanna sing with a fella ~ always a beautiful thing a man and a woman... :)
I wanna play with those Tinpan Orange folks... they make beautiful sounds... I think they'll understand these songs and make them ring.
I'm hoping Jen Cloher will come sing and bang out some tambourine with me. :)
I wanna ooh ahhh some harmonies if some of the others will have me...
and I'm hoping for a "we are the world moment"... most definitely.
It's a fine group of musicians: Tinpan Orange, Jordie Lane, Husky, Jen Cloher, Harry Angus, and myself. Storm in a Teacup? I think it's gonna be a beautiful blend.
