The Seabellies

The Seabellies are a band on the move...

Having driven 1400km South West from their homes in Newcastle, they're setting up shop at The Evelyn Hotel in Fitzroy, Melbourne for a month long residencey, they're playing gigs at Triple R, they're on Triple J's like a version (click here for a gorgeous Am I Ever Going to see your face again complete with the sweetest "no way get fucked, fuck off" you'll ever hear), they seem to be everywhere I turn.

Gosh they're hard not to like.

It must be hard to leave the 9th best city in the world to move to a rather wet Melbourne spring but I for one am rather pleased that their gorgeously produced brand of indie-pop-rock is getting all in my face... I'm a fan, I'm happy they've come south from Newcastle to conquer my home city. I went to seem em last week and I'll be there again this week, and probably the week after.

This clip, dark, romantic and ultimately quite sad belies the shiny production values and melodic focus of their music. It's a nice juxtaposition.
